Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 17, 2026
Overview
glimm is designed with privacy as a core principle. Your memories belong to you, and we've built our app to ensure they stay that way. This policy explains how glimm handles your data.
Data Storage
All your photos and notes are stored in your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit technology. This means:
- Your data is encrypted and stored in your private iCloud container
- We (the developers) cannot access, view, or read your photos or notes
- Your data syncs automatically across your devices signed into the same iCloud account
- Deleting the app removes local data, but your iCloud data remains until you delete it
Data We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect your photos or journal entries
- We do not collect your location data
- We do not collect personal information like name, email, or phone number
- We do not use analytics that track individual users
- We do not sell any data to third parties
Permissions
glimm requests the following permissions:
- Camera: To capture photos when you respond to notifications
- Photos: To let you add photos you already took. Only the photos you pick are copied into glimm.
- Notifications: To send random reminders throughout your day
- Location (optional): To tag where a memory was captured. It is saved with that memory only and never sent to us.
- Microphone (optional): To record voice notes. Recordings stay with your memories.
These permissions are used solely for the app's core functionality and can be revoked at any time in your device settings.
Local Processing
All photo processing happens on your device. Photos are never uploaded to our servers because we don't have servers that handle user content. The only network communication is between your device and Apple's iCloud servers.
Data Deletion
You have complete control over your data. To delete your data:
- Delete individual memories within the app
- Delete all app data through iPhone Settings → General → iPhone Storage → glimm
- Remove iCloud data through Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Manage Storage
Children's Privacy
glimm is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
